This is the official AIM(Aol Instant Messenger) client for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The best part about this application is that now you can send SMS message for free. Along with Free SMS messages you can now fully control and manage your AIM buddy list.
You can manage your buddy list groups(adding, deleting). . .as well as manage your personal settings. By personal settings I mean your ‘avatar’. . .your online status. . .and your status message.
You have a ‘IMs’ tab at the bottom that lists all ‘Active IMs’ that you have going right now. You can either select an IM and talk. . .or delete an IM(when you’re done talking).
You are also given ‘dots’ that show you how many ‘Active IMs’ you have going right now. You can scroll through these just like you scroll through your home screen applications.
They give you a ‘Favorites’ tab that you can access your favorite buddies quickly and easily.
I understand you want to watermark your screenshots, but really this is annoying.
Maybe a smaller one in the corner?
If the option to send free sms messenges is still an option in September when apps are allowed to “push” new data; this will be a great alternative to the 3G crowd; or the EDGE crowd when their 200 texts per month are up. Thanks for all the articles; this will be a great resource!
@FSFunky I thought this is a good way to watermark the images. Bandwidth is expensive especially when someone wants to hotlink my images.
I will work on this after work today sorry everyone!
you should make this app rotate when your in a chat because it makes it much easier to type with the keyboard in landscape.
I completely agree with you there Jonathan
This is the only app that has been launched at the very beginning of the app store that still needs a major update. It needs access to use Jabber and other instant messaging services. Don’t get me wrong, this is a great app and 4/5 kids I know have an AIM account, but it needs access to more accounts. I have an AIM account, so I love this app!!!
when do you plan on making the app rotate because i realy feel like it would be a great idea.
