Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D

Apple iTunes

Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D is hands down the most requested application/game to be reviewed. With over 90 votes(Super Monkey Ball has just over 70), you decided this should be the first one that I should review. So, here it is. . .

This game reminds me a LOT like the Mario Kart series, the Nintendo 64 one to be more specific. The graphics are a lot better than I had expected and the controls are intuitive and easy to get used to.

Just like in Mario Kart you can collect items from the wooden mystery boxes. I have seen items such as the bazooka(shown above) which acts just like the red turtle shells, oil drums(banana peels), bombs(green turtle shells), TNT(explosive boxes), and even unique items like a teleporter that switches the position of someone in front of you.

You turn the kart by tilting the iPhone or iPod Touch to the left/right. . .and you can even hop/jump by touching the screen(one of two spots).

The best part is, you can actually drift/slide just like in Mario Kart. The slide is a little soft/delayed, but once you get used to doing it. . .it gets easier.

Another unique element to the game is the Letter System. Throughout the levels you’ll notice the letters C-R-A-S-H scattered around. Collecting these will unlock new characters for you to play as.

Once you start learning the tracks, the game really starts to pick up. The slide becomes easier to do(because you can predict the turns), and so forth. If you feel the game is too jerky. . .or not responsive enough, you can go into the Options and change the sensitivity. This will help if you feel that you tilting the device is making the kart turn too much. . .or not enough.

    Hi,
A video of Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart running on the iPhone. If it is the game, and not just a video playing of gameplay playing on the device, it looks like you steer by tilting the iPhone and pick up and use power-ups by touching the screen. The game actually looks like it could be quite a bit a fun. And it doesn’t look like it would suffer from a player’s beefy hands blocking the screen during play. Of course, it could just as likely be a fake.
