Advent is a re-designed version of an game from the 1970′s called Colossal Cave Adventure. You play the game by typing into a bar at the top, and then text below will explain if you have found anything, or done anything useful to help you in your quest.
The application is really really easy to use. The only way that you can actually control what the application does is typing into a text box that is displayed at the top of the screen, and then if you do something useful, then the game will say something like “You have found ..” or “You walk .. in .. Direction”.
The things that it says back to you can be very descriptive and useful, but you are limited to the amount of things that you can type into the text box, it only looks are the first 5 letters of the first 2 words that you type, so if you want to say “Go Northwest” then you have to shorten it to “Go NW” because if not, it will think you only want to go in the north direction.
Also at times, you don’t have a clue what the hell to type in next, because the game isn’t visual at all, and all you have it what the app types back to you, so at times you have to go mad and type all commands that you think could be useful.
On the whole the application is really fun, when you get the hang of what commands you should be typing in. But in the end, you can’t see anything, so it does get boring not being able to interact much.
