Update - I decided to bump the prize from $10.00 to $20.00. Remember, you can enter as many times as you want(with a different logo for each entry).
We need a new logo to match the new theme! As long as you can use Photoshop, Gimp, or any other graphics application then you could win. The winner gets a $10 $20 $35 $50 iTunes gift card(or $10 $20 $35 $50 USD via Paypal). So even if you don’t live in the US(that’s the only store I can buy a gift card from), you can still enter to win something.

The logo will have to fit perfectly into the header, and blend seamlessly into the background color. If you’re looking for the PSD file you can download HERE.
The only requirements are that it must ‘fit right into the header’ and the dimensions must be 186×88(like the logo above). The word App Store Apps or AppStoreApps.com aren’t required to be in the logo. Although if it fits. . .and looks good, then why not. It’s just not something that must be. I would much rather go with a unique logo that can be branded and associated with the website.
You can also submit as many logos to the contest as you would like. So the more you submit the better your chances are to win!
This contest will be open until the end of the month, October 31st, so everyone should have plenty of time. Over the course of the contest I will be pulling logos from this post(put the links in the comments) and putting them as the actual logo. This doesn’t mean that the contest is over, or that I have chosen a winner. It simply means that I am testing it out to see what it would look like.

Good job with implementing the new design Doug! I would recommend displaying a box somewhere on the sidebar or on the top that has an RSS subscription link and an e-mail subscription form so users can subscribe to this blog. I also recommend making the current site news visible on the homepage so it would be more noticeable by your visitors. If I get my new hard drive then I’ll definitely be participating in this contest! :)

@Quick I want to replace the ‘color picker’ that lets you chose whether the header is black, blue, green, red, etc. with the RSS link/icon.
I don’t know how or if I’ll do the email subscription, but at least the standard feed will be displayed
I’m still thinking about how I want to implement the site news. I was thinking at the bottom right sidebar, but I think it would seem out of place. I’m not sure, it will be worked out eventually.

You do realize that your “prize” (even with the extra $25) for having someone create the identity for your website is insulting to designers, right?
You’re not going to get a good response until you offer something that at least comes close to the value of a logo.

@ Gary, why would this be insulting, its not like you HAVE to create a logo. And who said you have to be a designer to create one? I created a logo for this site, and im no designer, and if I win I would rather Doug keep the money to spend it on the site anyway.

Call me crazy but 1 hour of work for $35 doesn’t sound like that bad of a job(even though Jay is right, it is a contest). Yes I could pay a couple hundred for a professional logo, just like I could have paid $1,600 for a professional blog template. Sadly, I don’t have anywhere near that kind of money to be putting into the website.

When I resize the height to 88px the icon/font seems a little small/hard to read. If you could fix this your logo would have a great chance at winning.
BTW – the width can’t be longer than 186 pixels

I’m not sure, I was thinking maybe a 5 pixel padding from the top and bottom. Maybe even 10. . .it’s hard for me to picture how things will look
Doug, how many unique visitors per day does AppStoreApps get now?
Depends on the time of the month. Early on(like the first week), we do about 2,000 – 2,200. Toward the end of the month it gets up to 2,500 – 2,800. With the new layout, I’m hoping to break 3,000 uniques in 1 day(crosses fingers) before the end of the month. But with it being Halloween, I’m not sure how that will pan out.

If you go to my link again, you will see a mock-up of what the site would look like with a larger logo at the top. I think it looks better and takes up more of that blank grey space. You can also read and see the logo better. Let me know what you think!
