NPA Lookup lets you look up the city and state of any area code in the United States(and Canada). All you have to do is put in the area code and touch ‘lookup’. Then it will give you a list of cities to choose from. When you pick one, it closes the application and pulls up the native Maps application to that specified city/state.
Thankfully for iPod Touch owners, the database is stored locally on your device(and it’s not a huge application either). That way you don’t have to have an internet connection to actually look area codes up.
I do wish it did more though, it seems just opening the map leaves you wanting more. Maybe when you touch the city/state, it could take you to a page of misc details/things you could do(like go to the map.
I purchased this app but it is lacking something from a similar app I had on my Palm TX…a reverse look-up. What if you do not know the area code but you know the city. You type in the location and you get the area code. As for the map it is not functional on the iPod Tough unless you have access to a wifi connection. After done with the map I could figure out how to get back to the main app.
