Venger is a 3D space shooter where you fly a fighter plane through a level, blowing up UFOs, avoiding blasts, and flying around obstacles. You have 3 controls, dual lasers, missiles, and a speed boost.
This game feels incredibly familiar to Star Fox from the Super Nintendo. Anyone who played that back in the day is in for some nostalgia. The only thing missing is your crew(frog, falcon, etc) and the goal of having to fly through rings.
To shoot your regular lasers you touch the left and/or right side of the screen(tip – you can hold down and do continuous fire). To shoot your missiles you touch the bottom right button and to go faster you touch the bottom left button. It uses the accelerometer so you move it by tilting the device. Tilting forward moves down, back moves up, and then left and right.
I got hooked to this game very quickly and it was something that I didn’t expect. While it looks very simple. . .it’s actually very compelling. The levels are like endurance matches and then you go into a boss battle(which is a puzzle so you have to think it through).
that was an outstanding review. I have only one question- how do you beat the diamond shaped UFOs with the sheilds? I haven’t killed one yet and it’s really annoying. thanks
You have to match the color of your laser to the color of the shield (a colored ring) around the diamond shaped ships. You can change the color of your lasers by moving your finger up or down on the multi-colored laser controls on the left and right edges of the screen.
I love this game. Best game I have for my iPhone. I would buy sequel to this game!!
