Word Scramble is one of the first word scramble games available in the App Store. . .and it shows. While boasting a tremendous amount of words, it really doesn’t offer much in the form of gameplay.
This is one of those applications where the developer just didn’t spend much time on. Either that or he just couldn’t afford a proper design. . .or maybe just hasn’t gotten around to it yet. But even if it looked better it really wouldn’t be any better to play. You get a total score count at the bottom left, and you just go through word after word. You can get a hint on your current word. . .and that will give you a letter in the word(almost hangman style).
My biggest beef with the gameplay is that the developer just threw in a bunch of dictionaries in and let you pick between them. I like that they give you some subject specific words, but that doesn’t change the fact that you can get a tiny word and then a giant 20 letter word immediately after. They should let you filter through either by easy, medium, or hard words. . .or maybe even by the # of letters in the word(like only showing words with 5 letters). Yes, you can ‘pass’ on a word that’s too big, but that just feels cheap to me.
I was not impressed with this application at all, and while it’s isn’t good right now. . .the developer could really work on it and improve it over time. It would do good for sales, and even make their current customers happy.
The game is ok.. just that it gets over before you even know it. Fast-paced but short-lived. If you like a game that runs longer and has a lot more challenges get WordsWorth instead!
