Snow Reports is a completely customizable application that keeps you up to date about the most recent status updates from your favorite ski resorts(that you can add individually).
I had first thought this application told you when it was snowing and when the school closest to you(or of your choice) will be closed/open. Actually, Snow Reports will tell you some of the more important details about your favorite ski resorts.
When you first open the application you pick the state that you will be skiing in, then pick the ski resort that you’ll be skiing at. . .and then it will tell you some basic details like how many trails are open, how many lifts are open, new snow and base depth. While this is all very interesting for quick reference, the app also gives you a ‘Web’ and ‘Call’ button that you can use to quickly get in touch with the ski resort of your choice.
You also have a ‘Report’ and ‘Weather’ button that opens an in-app browser that shows you some information on a website(OnTheSnow.com). While I’m glad the developers decided to make an in-app browser to prevent the application from closing and opening the MobileSafari application. . .I think they could parse the data, and actually make it so that I can read it(and not have to zoom in and scroll around to read it).
If you go skiing a LOT and just want a way to find out some information about the resorts around you, then this application is exactly what you’re looking for. I just don’t see that many people wanting to purchase something like this when they can just go to the website(or call) the resort they’re interested in going to. Then again, I don’t go skiing so maybe this is the most optimal way of checking.
