Tribe #1: Kent Williams is a collection of paintings from the artist Kent Williams. This is just 1 chapter in the series of ‘Tribe’ applications that feature different artists from around the globe.

I’m not sure why the developers went with the translucent arrows at the bottom to navigate through the images. I would think that swiping the images left/right like the Photos application uses would be the best way to control it(and the most natural).

Other than that, this application is put together very well. The images look crisp so you can even zoom in a little bit before it gets distorted.

If you’re into art, and are always looking to find new artists then this series of ‘Tribe’ apps is right up your alley. Some would ask why not just go on Google and look at the Kent Williams images. Which technically you could(and it would be free). But if you’re a fan of Kent Williams’ art, then you’ll probably want to grab this.

Malcolm Mushroom is an interactive book for kids. I don’t know the age range that this book was made for, but it is full of media(audio) and full of interactive fun for kids.

Maybe I should reinstall the application or something, but I couldn’t hear anything on my iPhone. I was under the assumption(from the tutorial) that you can click the text and listen to someone read it. . .or touch the picture and hear some audio(music). . .but the application didn’t do anything when I touched the screen.

There are tons of reviews in iTunes saying that this application works and is great. . .so I only assume this was an issue with my individual device.

Pocket Cocktails is an entire resource of alcoholic drinks from beers, to wines, and even cocktails, margaritas, martinis, and more. This application includes a picture of the drink, a brief description, and for cocktails and mixed drinks, the ingredients to make the drink.

A great feature to compliment the wines included is a database of which wines go best with which foods. Find out what goes good with fish, deserts, meats, and more. There’s a great search feature to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. . .either search for the name of the drink or even just an ingredient.

I wish this developer gave details on how many total drinks were included here(to help when comparing it to other apps). . .but they don’t. I love the price point that they went with. I’ve reviewed other apps that do less than this, and charge 5 dollars. So it’s nice to see so many features and such at such a great price.

Classics is an elegant ebook reader that comes pre-loaded with over a dozen(14 so far) classic books for you to read. Your books come on a virtual wooden bookshelf and you have the ability to pick up and move them to any other spot.

The application works like many of the other ebook readers but adds that touch of style to it. You get life-like 3D page turns. . .where you can touch and slide(much like you slide through the homescreen pages), or you can just touch the page to turn. When you touch the ‘home’ icon at the top, a bookmark is placed, so you can come back to that exact page(just by opening the book).

The only thing that would make this application any better would be the ability to add your own books(and the ability to remove books from the bookshelf entirely). I imagine that they use a proprietary format so this would be harder. . .but I’m hoping this is something they will be added later).
