ILeaseMyCar Pro lets you figure out just how much your payments would be if you leased or purchased a car at any moment in time(at home or right at the dealership).

This is yet another calculator for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Don’t let the name fool you though, this is also for purchasing a car too. You can even do reverse calculations(if you wanted to sell or lease a car you own). So that means this application is for people on both ends of the spectrum.

This application includes everything you can think of from state tax to deducting the value of trading in your current car. The only time I could see using this application is if you were pulling up to a dealership and wanted a way to do some calculations yourself. Normally the people selling the cars will help you with this, but if you want to figure something out before hand and you have no previous experience then this application would be very useful.

I’m not a fan of specific calculators as applications(especially when they want to charge so much for it), but with so many out there. . .there has to be a market for them. I was surprised at how much detail was put into this application which is why I can understand the 3 dollar price tag. I just wish it was designed better. Things are very cramped together(but that’s just because there are so much stuff included). Maybe setting it up with scrolling pages instead of stuffing it all into one page would be optimal(then again maybe that can make things worse). . .but it’s just my thoughts.

ContactClone Pro is one of the easiest ways to transfer contacts from your Contacts application, to another iPhone or iPod Touch(as long as they h ave a copy of ContactClone Pro as well).

So what you do is open up the application and then start adding contacts into the ContactClone Pro application. You pick a category and then add individual contacts. This is done so that you can have 1 for work, home, friends, and any other sub groups that you would like to create. This makes it easy for you to restrict other ContactClone Pro users from seeing contacts that you don’t want them to see.

All you have to do is get on the same WiFi network as the other person with ContactClone Pro. Once you are you’ll see that ContactClone Pro detects the device and from there you can connect to them and send over your contacts. The other person will need the ‘key’ for the category you want them to see(which you can get from the main screen).

This is great if you go to meetings, conventions, meetups, or any other public event where you normally hand out and accept dozens of business cards. The only downfall to this application is the adoption rate. You need everyone with an iPhone to have functionality for it to be really useful. It is nice that with the App Store anyone(with an iPhone) can just jump in and purchase the application. . .but first you have to convince them to purchase it.

Thankfully the developers are aware of this and you can get a free version. The only downfall of this(that I can see) is that you don’t get the multiple categories.

Audio Note Taker is just that, an application that lets you take audio notes no matter where you are. Use a quick record mode to instantly begin recording or pick a name and icon before you start recording.

If you just do a quick recording then you can still set it’s name and icon, you just have to go in and edit it after you record it(changing the default name). They just give you the quick record mode to make it easy to open the app and begin recording within seconds.

Audio Note Taker is a well designed application that makes it stand out from the crowd of other audio recordings available in the App Store. There isn’t many features here, but what it does. . .it does well. You won’t be recording someone across the room, but if you’re close the audio quality is nice. You can also organize these recordings into folders or use the search feature to quickly find the exact audio note you’re looking for.

The only limits to how many recordings you can have is the amount of free space on your device. I would like to see a feature that lets you ‘export’ your audio notes, whether it’s an FTP solution or email, I think it would be a good idea to add this in future updates(they do have a sync feature but that has it’s limits).

FTP On The Go is a fully featured FTP client for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Enter the details for your FTP server and then connect. From here you can also save the details so you don’t have to enter them every time you want to connect.

If you don’t understand an aspect of the application it comes with not only a complete FAQ but it also comes with a help page with videos to help guide you through setting everything up.

Once you’re connected it will list the folders and the files in a list view. Touching a folder takes you inside the folder, touching a file highlights/selects the file. From there you can even save files directly from the server inside the application, and it comes with a file viewer so that you can look at and modify directly from your iPhone and iPod Touch. The supported file types include – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Numbers, Pages, PDF, log files, and images. The developers don’t really give specific details about which image types are supported, but I would assume anything viewable in Safari will work here.

This application is great for connecting to your FTP server, downloading a php/html file and editing it quickly. Once you modify it the way you like you can re-upload it back to the server. The same applies if you need to go in and add, remove, or change the name of an image in your FTP server.

FTP On The Go is the complete FTP client that gives you the power behind a fully featured app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Be sure to check out the settings tab that comes with more than 3 pages of specific settings to customize.

HT Professional Recorder is a premium voice recorder for the iPhone. This is the voice recorder if you want to record from a distance(or like an office meeting or college lecture) and actually want to understand it when hearing it. It comes with 3 recording modes so you can record up close or far away.

Technically it will work on the 2nd generation iPod Touch but I’m not sure how well with the external microphone. The audio is great and depending on the background noise can be very clear. The only feature I’m missing from this application is the ability to email audio recordings.

They do include a great WiFi server that lets you connect your web browser to the application and download the recordings that way. . .but even gmail supports email attachments as big as 15MB(maybe even 20MB). Other than this email thing, it does seem to be fully featured. They even include a way to bookmark certain audio clips that you want to find qiuckly, and they also have a feature to speed up and slow down the way your voice sounds.

iBeam is an application that lets you send your contacts(and vCards) from your device to another. It comes with 3 methods to send the contacts too(WiFi, vCard, and optical). It only takes a couple of sends to send and that’s a lot better than having to carry a bunch of business cards around.

To send a card over WiFi, you only have to have both devices open up iBeam. . .to send a vCard it takes your contact and formats it correctly for an email. . .and to send it optically you let it create a barcode and use the other one to take a picture of it.

This is a great way to send contacts, but it requires both parties to have the application. Since this is a paid application the # of downloads is minuscule compared to free applications, and it’s the adoption rate that will make or break the success for it. Think of it as MySpace or Facebook. As an individual website they suck, but when hundreds of millions of people use it(like your friends), it becomes a useful utility.

Tap Forms is a completely customizable information manager and is great for any type of information that you need on-the-go. From software licenses to bank accounts, and even things that require audio notes. Fields for the forms include things like contacts, text, dates, times, numbers, websites, audio and photos.

You can look at Tap Forms as an advanced version of the stock Notes application(or even a checklist). The best part about this application is that it’s totally customizable. If you want a ‘form’ with just audio notes, you can do this. . if you want one with just websites or just bank accounts/credit cards, you can do this as well.

Note – This application is currently on sale for $6.99. The developer says they will increase the price(to it’s normal price) when the next version is released.

TaskData lets you wirelessly synchronize notes and tasks with your Microsoft Exchange server. Simply setup your OWA settings and you’re all setup. . .nothing else is required(no fees or anything!).

With the iPhone 2.0 firmware Apple introduced ActiveSync to allow iPhone and iPod Touch owners to synchronize their contacts, email, and calendar with Microsoft Exchange. Sadly this left out notes and tasks that is included in Outlook. But now with TaskData you can sync everything, and wirelessly too.

I would have had more. . .and better screenshots as well as a more in-depth review, except I don’t use Microsoft Exchange(I just use Gmail). It’s odd to see a 12 dollar price tag on this application. . .but if you need it for work then it is definitely worth it.

HomeSeeker lets you browse through an international listing of houses for sale or just to rent, then this application is for you. Use the search feature or simply find the location on the map to find homes around that area.

You get full details about the home and you can even take the ‘virutal tour’ if it’s available. This scrolls through a series of pictures going through the property/home.

Other than the fact that it crashed 3 times on me, it was very useful. If you’re looking for a home then this is definitely something you’ll want to check out to find something available. If you want you can even email the property to your agent so that they can look into it further.

Time Keeper lets you record(and log) time spent on a project with a client. This can be anything from coding to consulting. Use this for anything you do that requires you keep track of the time spent on the project.

It’s very easy to add new clients(and edit old ones), and it allows you to set the rate that you’re charging said client. Entries into the log are recorded after you press the stop button. . .and they also give you the ability to manually add a time.

EccoNote Pro is like it’s free version(EccoNote), with more features.

Quickly and easily edit the name of any saved notes and access additional features.

EccoNote Pro tells you the file size as well as duration of the clip that you’re editing/looking at. You can also upload your notes via a built in FTP client. . .and you can also email these notes to any email address(or quickly pick a saved contact).

iRecorder makes it easy to record voice notes on your iPhone. With 2 big buttons it’s easy to figure out how to record and play your notes. Changing the name of the note isn’t as intuitive. . .but I show you how to do that in the video.

This is a very elegant voice recorder for the iPhone. When you first open the application you have a big green button that you need to press to begin recording(you can’t miss it).

Then you will see the menu rotate again to let you save, delete, or listen to the clip.

When you save a recording you get to pick a category for that clip. This makes it easy to keep all of your notes/memos organized. When you decide to delete a clip you’ll notice that it really doesn’t delete it(at first). It merely moves it into a virtual trash can, so you can restore it if you deleted it by accident.

EccoNote is a free and simple recorder for the iPhone. You don’t even have miscellaneous buttons to confuse you. After(or before) recording the audio clip you can change the name and then save it so you can keep your clips organized.

CareerBuilder.com’s Jobs application lets you search their database of employers so you can look for a job. This application also uses the geo-locating feature so you can find the closest jobs near you quickly and easily.

After picking a job, you can read the details, check the description and requirements and even add it to your personal ‘favorites list’.

This favorites list gives you quick access to the jobs you have marked previously. This is great for keeping a list of employers that you have contacted or plan to contact here. Then if you don’t get the job. . .you can remove it from the list. You could also use it as a list of jobs that you plan on contacting in the future.
