synthPond is a synthesizer toy that utilizes the iPhone’s touch screen technology for controls and creating the beats/tones by placing ‘dots’ around the board.

The closer you drop the ‘dots’ to each other, the faster the tempo to the beat is. . .the farther apart they are, the slower it will be.

I never was the person to play with a synthesizer and think ‘wow, this is awesome/fun’. . .so this isn’t much of an entertaining application for me. But I could see the people who enjoy them, thinking that this application was very fun. Instead of just touching the tones yourself, it’s setup with a tempo/beat style, so you can create some actual music and listen to it playing(without having to continue to press the tones).

Noise.io Pro is a fully featured synthesizer board that fits right in your pocket and you can carry around whenever you have your iPhone or iPod Touch.

This is another application that I would LOVE to give a full review. . .but sadly I don’t have any musical talent and zero experience with synthesizers. When the application opens up you see a huge board of boxes, touching a box will light up it’s surrounding boxes, and make a noise. Play with the buttons like it was an actual synthesizer. . .and you can even touch/hold the menu button you get an entire slew of other features/tweaks.

The application is sort of expensive(depending on what you will use this application for), but if you’re ever in that spot where you need a synthesizer, you’ll be happy that Noise.io Pro is available in the App Store.

The developers are very active, so you can expect to see new features when it’s updated, which is quite often(like 10 times so far). This is one aspect that developers seem to forget when it comes to releaseing an application in the App Store. Instead, a lot of devs like to release sequels to the application/game which in turn makes everyone buy an entirely new copy just to get new features. While we all love new features, updating the previous application will make your customer base MUCH happier.

PlayThatNote helps people who never had a singing lesson, but always wanted to sing. Tell the application the notes and let it tell you the pitch you should sing to.

I wish I could review this application in further detail. I am not a musician in no way what so ever, and have no idea how to read musical notes(or anything musical).

You put in a few notes that the music you’re singing, and let it help you pick the pitch of the vocals. The application doesn’t play those notes or anything, instead they just tell you information about it(in a pop-up note).

Event Finder lets you find something to do in your local area when you’re bored. From music concerts, to sports events. If you’re looking for a night on the town then this might be your new favorite application.

When the application opens you’re asked to put in your city or your zip code. After you do that you can see music, family, theater, and sports events. Here you can scroll through the entire list of events and even use the ‘tags’ at the bottom to show/hide certain event categories.

While this application is very useful if you constantly go to events that need tickets. . .if you just go to TicketMaster.com you can do the same style of browsing/searching.

I believe that this application uses affiliate links to make the developer even more money. While this isn’t anything you can complain about when someone is giving away something for free. . .but when I have to pay 2 dollars for the application and you’re still looking to make money off me. . .that’s a bit much. I only base this on the redirect that happens after you touch the ‘details’ link and are taken to a TicketMaster.com website(but before you can see the redirect happening). I haven’t researched the website that does the redirect(to find out if it’s truly an affiliate link). . .but that’s what they normally are.

Note - I haven’t talked to the developer about this. . .and I can’t confirm that this is really using affiliate links. . .I’m just assuming.

Wunder Radio grabs radio stations from all across the world and uses their internet streams to stream directly to your iPhone or iPod Touch. It can also use the location feature to find out exactly where you are, and pull up the local radio stations that you would find if you turned on your actual radio.

A cool feature that they included was the ability to listen to emergency signals as well as music stations. So you could go in and listen to the cops and firemen from your local city(or one in another state)

FMScreen is an FM synthesizer that is completely controlled by you touching the iPhone screen. All you will see is a black screen, but touching a spot on the screen will emit a noise. . .sliding your finger/thumb around will change the sound in many ways.

There isn’t much else you can do with this application(besides making noise). The noise will stop when you let go of the screen. . .and you can’t touch two spots at the same time. I would think adding some sort of visual feedback would be nice(whether it’s colors or whatever). . .but this one doesn’t do that(at least yet).

This is one of those applications I would wait on until it went on sale.

PASY01 is a sound synthesizer that lets you change the pitch. . .volume. . .and other things to make it sound different. Just shake the iPhone and that will change the sounds too.

It’s fun to play with but the sound gets annoying quick. . .I could see this being fun in a practical joke though.

iMaracas is a toy that lets you imitate the sounds of a pair of maracas. Simply shake the device to hear the sounds.

You can also go into the settings and change the sensitivity(so you don’t have to shake it so hard).

This application lets you look at pictures taken at concerts going on recently. You’ll first see a list of the most recent uploaded concert pictures.

Even upload your own photos when you go to that next concert.

Mx3.ch Mobile brings you the best of the Swiss music scene to your iPhone and iPod Touch. With a list by Featured bands and Genre, you can easily find something for everyone.

The music streams right over the net so as long as you have internet connectivity you can listen to the best of the best.

This is one of the coolest applications around. This used to be called ‘Listen’ and was available to Jailbroken iPhones. What you do is hold your iPhone near anything that is playing music. Touch the ‘Tag Now’ button and then let it sample the song. After a few moments it returns the results telling you the title, album, artist, of the song.

Sadly this doesn’t work on the iPod Touchs(even with the touchmods microphone) so I couldn’t fully test this applicatio(sorry!).

Radio 105 is a web radio station for Italians(or anyone who speaks Italian).

TyroTuner is a microphone-based application that is specifically tailored to let you tune your standard 6 string guitar. The meter in the middle will let you know whether or not you need to tune that specific string.

This application has an ‘auto-switch’ button that lets you go into hands-free mode making it even easier to go from string to string.

OmniTuner is a robust tuner for a whole bunch of musical instruments. It uses a “sophisticated” pitch detection engine with an easy hands-free interface.

Fretboard mode is a cool feature of this application. The ability to specifically tune a collection of instruments like the regular 6 string guitar, a 12 string guitar, a violin, a mandolin, a ukulele, a banjo, and even more.

This application lets you stream the entire AOL Radio library to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

The player gives you a pause button, a volume slider, and some details about the artist and the song.

Pick from over 25 genres, and over 200 stations. They even include about 150 from CBS Radio giving you local radio from around the United States.

Find a favorite station or song that you like? Save either the song or station in your Favorites tab for later reference. Touching a saved station will take you right back to that station. Touching a saved song and you’ll be asked if you want to get that on iTunes or AOL Music.

Much like the Favorites list you also have a tab for the things you’ve listened to recently. In case you forgot to add a song or station to your favorites, you always have your most recent songs/stations in this tab.
