Tubey lets you create videos directly on your iPhone and iPod Touch. Tubey makes it super easy by providing a bunch of different background music and even uploading the video to their servers(and even YouTube.com).

So once you open Tubey it asks you for some images. You can use images taken from your camera right now, or pick existing images that you’ve already taken or saved online. You can then configure the transition effects(fade, pan, etc) and then add some background music. Music varies across a bunch of ‘genres’ and then you get even more choices(the dev didn’t put a total in the iTunes page). Once it’s all setup Tubey will put the pieces together and upload it to their servers. The application says it can take up to 30 minutes to get the ‘final video’, but since it’s all automated your job is done.

Tubey is very well put together. I like it when an application doesn’t come up short and sadly this happens far too often in the App Store. What really sold me on this application is the tremendous amounts of background choices. I would like to see more transition effects, but that’s ok. . .I have confidence that the developers will update the application in the future(and hopefully they will remedy this).

If you don’t have a YouTube account, and don’t want to create one. That’s ok, because they will upload to their own servers. The one downfall to all this automation is that you must register an account with them. It is super easy though(all done inside the application) and only takes 1-2 minutes.

iBearPolls is a massive social network of sorts, that lets you answer opinion polls as well as ask them yourself. You can ask anything about almost any subject and then let the masses answer your question.

iBearPolls is free which makes the application even more useful(the more people using it the better). You can setup a filter so that you only see certain subjects. . .and you can also setup your own username so that you can be identified when leaving comments.

Summizer is a Twitter client that lets you search through every tweet for a particular keyword(or keywords). If you don’t want to search for something specific then you can also browse through the most popular trends for the day.

To prevent you from having to type in the same searches day after day, they give you the ability to save a search so you can quickly go back to it at any time. When you find a tweet that you like you can respond to it by replying to the person, retweeting it, or you can look at all of the tweets for that one person.

This was one of the first applications that let you search Twitter tweets. It isn’t as useful now as it was then because there are plenty of other Twitter apps that let you search and do everything else with Twitter(send tweets, manage friends, etc). . .even free ones.

BeejiveIM is an all-in-one IM client that lets you add accounts from AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, MySpace, and Jabber. Instead of wasting all your money on text messages you can just open up BeejiveIM and talk to your friends that way.

Beejive was the first company that released an iPhone version of their web client. . .I remember using it when the iPhone first came out. The only downfall to this application, when compared to SMS texting, is that you must have the application open for you to get an IM. But it’s great when you get an SMS message, only instead of responding via SMS, you can just open up BeejiveIM and talk to the person who sent you the text.

Brightkite is essentially like Twitter, but with a major emphasis on localization. With Brightkite you can send messages(as well as photos) from your iPhone and see local messages(and pictures) from other iPhone/Brightkite users.

This is a great social networking application that brings the concept of Twitter, and expands it with things like photos and maps. The only thing that this application is lacking is the wide-spread adoption that Twitter has.

I remember the Whrrl application was sort of like this(even though I think Brightkite has the UI perfect). The thing that will make one of these applications ‘take off’ is the ability to gain a massive user-base. . or at least all of your local friends(depending on if you want to meet new people or stay in touch with current friends).

Nimbuzz brings all of your favorite messenger services into 1 place. Not only can you connect to the major services(skype, aim, msn, yim, gtalk and much more) and send IMs back and forth, but you can also take advantage of their free calling features.

I wasn’t able to test the voice quality, but the messaging parts work very well. I imagine the voice quality isn’t any worse than if you were really using the service(which is marginal at best). But it is nice to be able to connect to all those services at once.

Rooms is a mobile IRC client that you can use anywhere. . .anytime(WiFi and 2G/3G). Simply setup add the IRC server and setup your nickname. It comes with a ‘Rooms Browser’ that lets you go through the IRC channels(chat rooms) for that specific server.

The UI could look better. . .but the developers have packed a lot of functionality into the application to make it a fully featured IRC client. Rooms is a must have application for any IRC addict that wants to use IRC on-the-go. . .but doesn’t want to sacrifice features in doing so.

Pownce is a Twitter clone with some added functionality. Instead of just sending 140 character messages, you can send links, pictures, notes or events. . .and now you can do all that directly from your iPhone and iPod Touch.

If you’re not aware of Twitter, Pownce or Plurk I highly suggest you stop by and check it out.

This might not be the prettiest Twitter client but I feel it is the most versatile. With separate tabs for your friends’ tweets. . .the replies to you, and the direct messages to you. The only thing that I see this is missing is the public timeline.

If there are any links listed in a tweet, you’ll see there is a blue badge to the right of that tweet. If you click that badge then you’ll go straight to that link(in it’s own browser).

I think an auto refresh and location feature would make this the best client, hands down.

Graffitio is a virtual ‘walls’ for you to ‘tag’. It uses your location to find walls that are close to you. . .or create your own wall to and let other iPhone and iPod Touch owners around you(3000 feet).

Talk to others in a ‘thread’ style as if you were on a website forum.

This is an application that brings your friends, the places they like, and you all together on one map. So you or your friends can check the map and look at what your friends think about the businesses around you.

This is a lot like the Yelp application except its only showing you ‘reviews’ of what your friends have posted. Once you find a place, check the details and get the phone number, address, average rating, and opinions posted from your friends in your network.

I could see this being a powerful tool if it is adopted by a group of friends and used extensively.

Much like the MySpace Mobile application this lets you manage your Facebook profile.

The best part about this application is the integration of the chat feature. Chat with your friends directly from your iPhone or iPod Touch no matter where you are.

Check up on your profile and go into your friend’s profiles too. From here you can attempt to chat with them, compose a new message and things like check their last status message.

You also have a friends tab at the bottom that is strictly for listing your friends. Search or scroll through them much like you would with your standard contacts list(even with the letters on the right).

The last tab is your inbox for your private messages. Read. . .reply. . .and write messages from your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Now you can access your MySpace account anywhere and everywhere. MySpace Mobile lets manage your profile, comments, bulletins and even search all of MySpace right on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Read, respond and write new private messages from inside your inbox. View your friends, sorting them by top, online, new, birthday, and all.

Even though I don’t like MySpace, it’s like Twitter. . .everyone is on there so you must have an account. This application does well in allowing you to access your entire account. Now, maybe you can’t write blog posts(I don’t use MySpace that much), but it lets you login quickly so you can see what your friends are up to.

Twittervision tries to make Twitter that much more visual. You’re given a tab for local and global tweets. Twittervision uses your location to show you the closest tweets.

You can search Twitter very easily and they also give you a tab for your favorite tweets.

The best feature of Twittervision is their attempt to make Twitter more visual. Touch the ‘world’ button at the top left and you’re brought into a map of the world with a stream of tweets. With each tweet the map moves, and it shows you just where that tweet came from.

Twittelator is yet another Twitter client for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The user interface of this application isn’t as pretty as say, Twitterrific. . .but it does have more functionality.

For example, instead of having to scroll all the way down to see your @replies, you now have a replies ‘group’.

Twittelator does give you this clever way to send a tweet to multiple people at once. Just tap the @friends button at the top and you’ll be given a wheel at the bottom to select who you want to add to the tweet.

With the recent acquisition of Summize, this application uses that to it’s advantage. After touching the magnifying glass at the bottom, you’re given just a standard search box. Click ‘advanced’ at the top, and you’ll see it expand out to the full search page.

This is the free version of the Twitterrific Twitter client. Sadly it uses ads to make the developers money. . .but it’s not too bad.

Here you have two different modes. . .the familiar ‘List Mode’ and a ‘Detailed Mode’. Both modes let you scroll up and down between ‘tweets’, but Detailed Mode lets you directly reply to a specific person, set a ‘tweet’ as a favorite, and look at that persons profile information.

The User Info lets you see how many followers a specific person has. . .see where they are from. . .and a link to their public website/blog.

When sending a ‘tweet’ you can take a picture with your camera(if you have an iPhone) and you can also locate other people using Twitter in your area. We also get a ‘remaining character’ counter, that is automatically updated while you type.

Touching the ‘wrench’ icon when in ‘List Mode’ lets you go in and change some of the settings for Twitterrific. Here you can also do things like set a notification sound, use screen names(instead of real names), use a lighter background, set the controls for left-handed users, and turn hints on or off.

I haven’t looked at the premium version of this application yet but I hope its more than just ad-free.
