Denarii is yet another currency converter for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This one uses the exchange rates from Yahoo Finance, and overall looks very elegant and very polished.

It comes with 4 currencies added by default, but you can remove these and even add more(do this by touching the small I at the bottom right). When I say more I mean a lot more. For some reason the developer doesn’t list a total, but I scrolled down the inactive currencies for a while before getting to the end. Add as many as you want or a few as you want.

Touching the refresh button at the bottom left brings up the actions that you can do. Refresh the exchange rates, prepare for a trip, change the rate of an entry manually.

There’s not many other features(besides how it lists the currencies), but it does work well and it does look good.

Free Boston provides a great list of free things that you can do for free in and around the city of Boston. From exhibits to tours and even special events, you can find a handful of various places to visit when you’re bored or just looking for something to do with the family.

The developer says ‘dozens’, but it’s actually 34. At least to me, when you say dozens I think 3 or more dozens(36 or more). While this is a small technicality. . .maybe the developer plans on adding more in the future.

The application overall is very useful. You get a small picture of the place(which could be bigger), a description of why it’s important, a phone number(so you can call), and an address(so you can pull it up on your map).

The best part is that everything listed in the application you can visit and enjoy for free! And in a down economy, it’s always good to have a place you can go see(that doesn’t cost anything), and will help teach you or your kids some history.

Flight Tracker lets you look up airline schedules across the world. Select a date and then a departing and then an arrival city. Then you will see a list of flights that are available for you to choose from. No matter which company you go with all of the details are there.

Once you find what you’re looking for(or a few of them), add them to your saved flights and so you don’t have to search for them again. Then you can go back at any time and check on the updates for those flights. From weather delays to gate location you can always be on top of the airplane that you will be getting on.

MilesPerGallon is a MPG calculator to record and manage your your fuel usage. While you’re waiting for the tank to fill up you can open up the application and begin to enter the details. Once the details are in the application then it will do all the calculations for you.

All you have to do is enter the price you paid for the gas, how much gas you put in your tank, and what your mileage is currently at. It saves your entries in a log and plots them out on a graph. This lets you visually plot how you’re driving and how much gas you’re using.

It’s a well known fact that having a ‘lead foot’ while driving will dramatically decrease the MPG that your car gets. This application will help you monitor your gas usage over time.

EveryTrail is an application that uses the iPhone 3G’s GPS to track everywhere you go. This is ideal for walks, runs, and even geotagging photos(from directly within the application). It even uses a map to visually show you the ‘trail’ or ‘route’ that you went on.

The one downfall of this application is that it has to stay open for it to work. This tends to run the battery down more than normal(especially when you’re constantly using GPS). Thankfully they added a lock button that makes it look like your device is locked. This doesn’t turn off the screen or anything, but it does make it so that you have to ‘unlock’ it to turn off. They do this so you can put the device in your pocket and not mess with what is going on(like accidentally hitting the stop button).

I don’t have an iPhone 3G just yet, so I couldn’t get a great image of the map, but it does record your route and show the ‘trail’ that you went on the map.

Flight Status gives you access to the status for flights all across the world. Boasting over 1,000 carriers and over 4,200 airports you can check if an airplane will be late for any trip(for you, your friends, or your family).

You can search for flights through many different ways with Flight Status(by flight, route, or airport) and you also have the ability to save a future trip(so you can refer back to it at a later time).

If you travel a lot then the 5 dollar price tag is easily worth the functionality that this application brings. Sadly, I doubt that most of the people that could use this aren’t heavy travelers. . .but maybe that’s not the market that the developers are trying to target.

TSAwait actually gives you access to TSA’s wait-time stats for airports across the entire United States. When you first open it, you’ll need to update the stats, but once you update(it pulls the up-to-date data from the internet) you can then find your airport.

You can search for your local airport by picking a state first, then the airport. You can also go enter the ‘code’ for any airport in the US and it will take you directly there. Once there, you’re given a graph that tells you how the wait-time is. Green is good. . .Red is bad.

FAAwait lets you check air traffic delays in real time. It uses a data feed maintained by the FAA to track departure and arrival delays, ground stops and ground delays. Even though it’s not endorsed by the FAA it is highly accurate.

This is the perfect application for anyone that travels and someone that doesn’t want to stand in front of the official monitor. It even comes with a refresh button so that you can stay updated with the latest delays.

Urbanspoon uses the location feature(and random chance) to pick which restaurant close to you, that you should eat at. A cool feature is that you can ‘lock down’ specific categories and then make the others random. I think I would have been more impressed with this application had it actually included the city or county that I live in.

The rest of the application actually integrates the Urbanspoon.com website into the application(with user reviews, friends, etc. . .)

British Airways Flights is an application which allows you to track the status of flights that are in progress, look for the flights that are upcoming, and see information from past flights.

The application includes arrival and departure times, and these can be accessed by entering the flight number into a text box on the application, then you have to choose the date that the plane will be traveling, and it will come up with the information on the flight. The information displayed will be where the plane leaves and lands, what terminal is lands at, and also the estimated time of arrival alongside the scheduled time of arrival.

This is great if you are planning on going on a vacation and are sitting in the airport waiting for your airplane to land and you just want to check up on the details and times that it should be arriving. Maybe your friends or family are coming into town and you would like to find out the times, BA Flights will let you do exactly that.

Not only can you search for your flight using the flight number, which is the easiest way, but you also have the ability to search by Route, which involves entering where the plane is leaving from and then going to(also the date).

Or you can just search by the airport and the time parameters that the plane is leaving.

You have the ability to add favorites so you don’t have to search for your flight all the time, and also you can look at the timetables of certain airports, so that you can look through and find your particular flight.
