AnkiMobile is a smartphone counterpart to Anki, a free, multi-platform, and accessible intelligent flashcard software. Because the app is priced like a computer application, sales of it help to fund the creation of both the desktop and mobile versions.

The creator of Anki and AnkiWeb also wrote AnkiMobile, which has been available since 2010. Anki-branded apps that have lately appeared should be avoided since they lack compatibility with the entirety of the Anki ecosystem and provide significantly fewer capabilities.

Features of AnkiMobile include:

  • A no-cost cloud synchronization solution that enables you to maintain the consistency of your card content across various desktop and mobile platforms. As a result, adding content on a computer and studying it later on a mobile device is simple. You may also effortlessly sync your study progress between an iPhone as well as an iPad.
  • The same tested scheduling technique that the computer-based version of Anki employs, prompts you to review the information just before you might forget it.
  • A user-friendly interface was created for effective and seamless study. When you tap or swipe on different areas of the screen, AnkiMobile can conduct a variety of different activities. You can also choose which actions are displayed on the tool buttons.
  • A unique search feature that allows you to identify cards that fit criteria like ‘labeled high priority, answered in the last ten days, and do not contain the following words and automatically arrange them into a deck to study.
  • Detailed graphs and data regarding your study.
  • MathJax support for showing mathematical equations, as well as computer-generated LaTeX formatting.
  • You can study offline if your flashcards contain photos or audio snippets because such files are kept on your device.
  • Allows you to customize your cards with drawings made with the Apple Pencil.
  • Support for big decks of cards, up to 100,000+ cards.

Please be aware that…

AnkiMobile is not meant to completely replace Anki for computers; rather, it is meant to be used in conjunction with it. AnkiMobile can schedule and display your cards in the same way as the computer program, but the computer program is still required to make some adjustments, such as changing the note type. While you can study image occlusion cards made with the computer version, they cannot be made within AnkiMobile because add-ons are not supported. Therefore, before considering purchasing this app, start with Anki on your computer.

Data could also be transferred from the app using a USB cord or AirDrop; the cloud synchronization feature is optional.

AnkiMobile supports family sharing and one-time purchases that allow users to use the same Apple ID to access the app across various devices in their homes. Please visit Apple’s Volume Purchase Program for details on discounts offered to educational institutions when purchasing in quantity.
